“Crossing the Mediterranean”.

Since 2003 most of my work is concerned with the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The starting point for this artistic journey around the Mediterranean began in 2003 on a trip to Beirut. There I met artists and exchanged views, visited exhibition spaces and ateliers. It felt very familiar, the place, the people and climate. I wondered why I felt so much at home in this Arabic environment. Looking out at the Mediterranean Sea one day, I understood, this is what we have in common. The Mediterranean.  Since then I have, as a Greek Mediterranean living in Western Europe, looked for an intercultural dialogue between the countries sharing this same sea.

The sea that communicates between the cultures of the three continents. For many years this sea has transferred the cultures between the major ports, and shared their history, and future. Then, I decided to travel to these important historical ports around the Mediterranean Sea. At these ports, I started making an art project titled: “Crossing the Mediterranean”.
